This problem is probably related to the fact that your duo machine seems
to be running Python 2.3.4. Volatility requires Python 2.4+.

That's what I thought, but then there was the Ubuntu dual core laptop
that had the same problem. It has Python version 2.5. I have another
laptop single core running FC 8 with version 2.5 Python that doesn't
have the problem. So I'm seeing the same error with a later version
of Python...
